Join the Great Big Night In to raise funds for Leeds Mencap

Leeds Mencap has organised a new innovative fundraising event aimed at bringing family and friends of all ages together during these difficult times.

The Great Big Night In, on February 26, will also help increase awareness of learning disabilities and the work that Mencap does while raising essential funds for its services.

The fundraising event will feature three different activities, although participants can also create their own.

The activities include:

Cook Along - find out who’s really become the best baker over lockdown, with an exclusive recipe from the Ox Club in Leeds.

Get Crafting – a step-by-step workshop, suitable for children to make a Macramé key chain.

The Great Big Night in Quiz - play against your neighbours, family, friends and colleagues in this family-friendly virtual quiz, which has been put together by Headrow House.

The event is part of Mencap’s Imagine If campaign, an awareness and fundraising initiative highlighting what it is like to have a learning disability and showing what’s important to young people with learning disabilities and their families.

Cath Lee, CEO of Leeds Mencap, said: “With our Imagine If campaign, we want to highlight some of the issues that have affected children with learning disabilities during this time, such as them not being able to see friends and family and not understanding why and not being able to take part in their usual activities – like our youth clubs.

“Without public support, keeping our services going is going to be difficult.”
