Fundraising drive aims to prove child's play for Leeds park playground equipment

Campaigners are hoping a fundraising drive to improve playground equipment in a west Leeds park will prove child's play.

2021 marks 100 years since Hainsworth Park was given to the people of Farsley for 'playing fields and use of unorganised games particularly for young people'

The Friends of Hainsworth Park have already secured more than £30,000 to install a new play area adjacent to the existing playground that will suitable for children six and upwards. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The group are now trying to raise an additional £15,000 via a Crowdfunder campaign to make the playground extra special for physical and adventurous play.

Sarah Cropley, of The Friends of Hainsworth Park, said: "This is a park and playground for the community by the community and we are keen that everyone has a say in its future. The money raised will benefit everyone by providing the best facilities for future generations to enjoy."

Ms Cropley said it was hoped the money would also help improve infrastructure.

"We would also like a new path and new railings in addition to better play equipment." added Ms Cropley. "We have come a long way and would like to say a big thank you for everyone's help including the support of local councillors."
