BBC Look North's Harry Gration to present last show this evening

The broadcaster announced he was stepping down last week and that Wednesday, October 21 show would be his last.
The 69-year-old has become a household name in Yorkshire after fronting the corporation's Look North programme for most of the last 38 years.

Hide AdFor the last seven, he has shared the screen with Amy Garcia, who will now continue to front the show on her own following Gration's last show.
Guests have been appearing on the regional news programme all week to celebrate Gration's retirement.
Broadcaster Michael Parkinson surprised Gration on Tuesday, October 20 with a virtual appearance.
He asked Gration: "Is it true?" to which Gration replied "Yeah it is lad, I'm off, I'm off."

Hide AdParkinson laughed and said: "What you leaving for? You've got a good bit of mileage left haven't ya?"


But Gration chuckled and said: "It's just been one of those rollercoasters.
"You're the first interview I've done about this and I'm crying my eyes out already"

Hide AdPresenter Amy Garcia said: "My dear friend Harry is leaving Look North.
"It has been an honour to sit alongside him for the past 7 years.
"Harry you have been a mentor and a great friend.
"Thank you for the support, the laughs & always saying yes no matter how ridiculous the challenge!"
His co-presenter, Keeley Donovan, who is currently on maternity leave after welcoming daughter Scout with husband Johnny I'Anson, said: "Some sad news that Harry is leaving BBC Look North.

Hide Ad"It breaks my heart to think I’ll never sit on the red sofa with him again.
"A generous man, he has given me so much advice & support.
"Harry has no ego, is kind & has time for everyone.
"He is a dear friend who I love very much."
Paul Hudson, Look North weatherman and Climate & Environment correspondent, said:" Still can’t quite believe it.
"Harry has not only been a colleague but a very good friend for over 20 years.
"It’s been a privilege to work with him and he will be hugely missed."
Harry Gration will present his last BBC Look North show at 6.30pm on BBC One.
