From the people who donated to help foodbanks, the people fighting against racism and the NHS staff working hard in the fight against coronavirus - here are just 12 people and groups who have been inspirational in Leeds this year:
1. Rob Burrow
Since announcing his motor neurone disease diagnosis in December 2019, Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow has campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness of MND. He starred in the BBC Two documentary 'Rob Burrow: My Year With MND' and has raised thousands for the MND Association.
2. Kevin Sinfield
The inspirational Kevin Sinfield raised more than £2.5million for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. He ran seven marathons in just seven days to raise the money - all in support of his friend and former teammate Rob Burrows.
3. Marvina Newton
Activist Marvina Newton is the founder and CEO of Angel of Youths, a charity that aims to lift up young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to help challenge inequality, and is involved with a whole host of other community projects in Leeds. This year she has also acted as the figurehead for the Black Lives Matter movement in Leeds, calling on people in the city to fight against racism and the Government to "decolonise the education system" and ensure black British history is fully embedded into the curriculum.
4. Morley Football Club
Footballers from Morley Town AFC raised thousands of pounds after being inspired by Marcus Rashford's free school meals campaign. They used the money to deliver food hampers and Christmas lunches to children in the area. 5. Marcelo Bielsa
Marcelo Bielsa is a hero to Leeds United fans for guiding the team to the Premier League as Champions for the first time in 16 years. As well as being a fantastic coach, the Argentinean is also known for taking the time to chat and take photographs with fans when he is spotted around Leeds. He was nominated for the The Best FIFA Men's Coach this year - losing to Liverpool's Jürgen Klopp - but the humble manager insisted he is only an appendix of the club's technical staff and players.
6. Leeds United team
As if being promoted to the Premier League as Champions wasn't enough, the Leeds United squad have also gone above and beyond to help people in Leeds. The players donated £25,000 to Leeds City Council to help feed children in Leeds during the school holidays, after being inspired by Marcus Rashford. They also hosted a Call of Duty game with fans to raise money for the Leeds United Foundation.
