From the people who donated to help foodbanks, the people fighting against racism and the NHS staff working hard in the fight against coronavirus - here are just 12 people and groups who have been inspirational in Leeds this year:
7. Leeds United fans
It has been a mixed year for Leeds United fans as the club got promoted to the Premier League but fans weren't allowed in the stadium to watch it happen. Despite everything that has gone on, Whites fans have continuously shown their generous spirit in many ways, including donating their pay-per-view fees to local food banks and donating club shop vouchers to people in need at Christmas.
8. Becky and Shelley Joyce
Becky and Shelley Joyce, founders of the Homeless Street Angels, have been working hard to support rough sleepers throughout the coronavirus pandemic. The team worked with other outreach groups to deliver daily 'snack packs', hot meals, clothing and essentials to Leeds' homeless.
9. The Holt family
The Holt family donated more than 2,000 Easter Eggs to the Leeds Children's Hospital as a thank you for saving their daughter Maddison's life. Little Maddison had life-saving surgery when she was just six months old, after being diagnosed with Myofibroblastic Tumour - a rare form of cancer. After speaking out about their ordeal, mum and dad Natasha and Rob received huge support and decided that they wanted to give back to the NHS staff.
10. Arthur France
Dr Arthur France founded the Leeds Carnival back in 1967. The coronavirus pandemic meant the Chapeltown festival had to be cancelled for the first time ever. However, Dr France and his team worked hard to keep spirits high in the community and commemorated the emancipation of slavery by moving the event online. He has vowed that Carnival will be back "with a bang" as soon as it is safe to do so.
11. Ken Smith
87-year-old Ken Smith, from Cookridge, was often seen playing a tune playing a tune in Leeds city centre while dressed in his trademark waistcoat, bow tie and straw hat. However, when the pandemic hit the great-granddad of four asked his family to film his latest ukulele performance and share it online. He raised hundreds for Age UK.
12. NHS and care workers
And finally, a huge thank you to our NHS staff and care workers here in Leeds. They have worked tirelessly on the front line to fight against the coronavirus pandemic and keep people in the city safe.
