We can’t afford to lose confidence with Covid restrictions - the YEP says

Business leaders have warned confidence could be lost if the Government does not draw up a road map for exiting Tier 3 Covid restrictions.

Monday will see new measures imposed on West Yorkshire, with thousands of businesses potentially having to close their doors to stem the spread of the virus.

It is not yet known how or when our county will exit the measures, though they will be reviewed after 28 days. And this is the crux of the issue.

Martin Hathaway, managing director of the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, said it’s important there is a clear strategy to move out of the toughest tier.

We’re all being asked to adhere to the rules as a matter of public health and, understandably, there is an air of frustration.

Surely we all deserve the glimmer of hope offered by knowing what the end game looks like as we continue to comply with the restrictions?

We can’t afford for those goalposts to move, otherwise confidence and compliance with the rules could take a kicking.
