Leeds organisation 'overwhelmed' after Lord Sugar tweets support

The founders of a homeless organisation in Leeds have said they are "overwhelmed" after their work was praised on Twitter by Lord Sugar - to his 5.4m followers.

Becky Joyce, 44, who set up not-for-profit organisation Homeless Street Angels last year with her twin sister Shelley, was amazed to see the high-profile businessman post his support for their charity on Twitter.

In his Tweet, posted last night, he wrote: "Check out the great work that @LeedsAngels are doing helping to clothe, feed and house the homeless in Leeds. Please give what you can to this very worthy cause. http://www.homelessstreetangels.co.uk"

His knowledge of their work came about through a mutual friend of the twins but Becky said she was stunned to see him publicly backing their charity on the social media site.

She told the Yorkshire Evening post: "Our friend has supported us since day one and he happened to mention what we do to Lord Sugar and he wanted to get us more recognition.

"I was just overwhelmed and very emotional when I saw the tweet. It shows people are really starting to care."

Homeless Street Angels are currently trying to raise enough money to set up Abi House - a hostel for the homeless in Leeds.
