Large blaze at Beeston motor services business in Dewsbury Road

Buses were being diverted this morning (Monday) following a fire at a motor services business in Dewsbury Road in Beeston during the early hours of the day.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the building, oil and tyres were involved in a fire that broke out at the premises at around 12.25am.

Two engines from Hunslet, two from Leeds and two from Killingbeck attended the scene.

First Bus issued an update at around 7.10am and said that "due to an incident", Dewsbury Road would be closed from Spinning Wheel.

The road has now reopened and all First Bus services have resumed their normal line of route.

The fire was around 10m x 30m and high expansion foam, four large jets and two breathing apparatus were used.

Also at the scene was an aerial from Wakefield, hose layer and support from Mirfeld, CU Lite from Featherstone, CU assistants from Pontefract and a welfare unit from Skelmanthorpe.
