Police issue statement after assault
Police were called to an address on St Michael’s Lane, Headingley at 0733am today (Saturday 17 April) after reports of a male having been assaulted.
The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident and enquiries remain ongoing.
Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call police on 101 quoting log 363 of today.
A student who lives on the street said: “It definitely wasn’t a house party or anything like that. We’ve lived here all year and nothing has happened apart from house parties being shut down.
“Police have been here all morning, we’ve come outside to have a look.
“CSI got here about half an hour ago. We didn’t hear anything so it can’t have been a party or anything like that.
“It’s shocking. It’s only a few doors away.”
At least two police vans, two police cars and Crime Scene Investigators are on the scene in St Michael’s Lane in Headingley as of midday on Saturday.
The incident appears to relate to a house or a car which has been placed behind a cordon, with officers standing guard.
It is close to Headingley Stadium’s East Stand.
The cordon stretches across the front of a white car parked on the scene.

The incident comes as shops and pubs reopen for the first weekend day of trading since lockdown was eased on Monday, after three months of closures.

This blaze at Makin Farm is being battled by at least seven fire engines.
Seven appliances are currently on scene from Pontefract, Wetherby, Moortown, Normanton, Garforth, Castleford and Killingbeck stations.
