Yeadon fire: Residents told to close windows and doors as waste site blaze closes recycling centre
Residents are advised to avoid the area and to keep windows and doors closed
Residents in west Leeds have been advised to close their doors and windows this morning (October 29) as firefighters tackle a fire at a business in Yeadon.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that firefighters are dealing with a fire at a waste transfer site on Milners Road. The fire was first reported at 8.30am.

The nearby household waste recycling centre has also closed because of the blaze, Guiseley and Rawdon councillors confirmed on Facebook.
They shared a message from the recycling centre, which said: “Yeadon Household Waste Recycling Centre is currently closed due to a fire in the industrial units further along Milner's Road.
“The Fire Service are using water suppliers near our site and do not want vehicles driving over their hoses. As a result, the whole road is currently closed.
“Our staff are on site and ready to open once the Fire Service have reopened the road.”
A spokesperson for the fire service advised residents in the local area to keep their windows and doors closed.
Motorists have also been advised to avoid the area to reduce disruption.
