Mushroom Street Sheepscar: Firefighters battle blaze after tyre fire spreads to commercial garage in Leeds

Firefighters from across Leeds have raced to the scene of a tyre fire.

Multiple stations responded to the call at a commercial garage on Mushroom Street, Sheepscar, at approximately 9pm last night (Wednesday, December 18).

Crews from Leeds, Hunslet, Moortown, Killingbeck, Mirfield, Featherstone, Ilkley, Normanton, Bradford, and Dewsbury, along with specialist units including a welfare unit, hose layer unit, command unit, and two aerial appliances all responded to the incident.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “Tyres involved that spread to commercial garage. 60 per cent of ground floor involved.

“One large jet, two hose reels and two breathing apparatus used. Incident is still ongoing.”

No injuries have been reported from the scene and the full extent of the damage is yet to be determined.

The public are being urged to avoid the area while firefighters remain hard at work.
