Leeds has seen a reduction in the number of people found sleeping rough in the city, according to a recent survey.

The Government statistics, which come from late night sweeps of the city, show Leeds is bucking the national trend of increases in rough sleeping.

Councillor Debra Coupar, executive member for communities, said: “Whilst I feel one person sleeping rough is too many, this shows we are working hard to make sure everyone in Leeds is provided with support, advice and [...] assistance.”

A total of 13 rough sleepers were found on the sweep last year, compared to 15 people in 2014.
