Officers from the Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "Christmas is coming. Think twice before you get behind the wheel.

"Make it a call for a taxi rather than a call to a loved one from custody when under arrest. Drink and drug driving kill."

Last year, West Yorkshire Police made 284 arrests for drink driving and 92 arrests for drug driving throughout December.

The Roads Policing Unit added: "In this day and age how do people still think this is acceptable?"
