WATCH: Moment PD Hades helps catch burglars just month on frontline

This is the moment a police dog sprung into action to assist in catching two burglars in Leeds.

PD Hades and his handler PC Dan Garside were called into action on Tuesday July 7 after officers received a report that two suspected burglars had been spotted inside an address in Long Causeway, Adel in Leeds via CCTV.

When officers arrived, they discovered the property’s patio doors had been smashed.

After confirming the suspects were upstairs but refusing to come down, PD Hades and PC Garside were deployed.

As PC Matthew Van Bellen made his way upstairs, the suspects had barricaded themselves inside one of the rooms before attempting to escape.

During the incident, a struggle took place on the landing between one of the suspects and PC Van Bellen.

PD Hades and PC Garside quickly stepped in to support their colleague, helping to safely detain both suspects.

The two men, aged 44 and 46, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and are currently in custody.

Chief Inspector James Farrar said: “"PD Hades has made an outstanding start to his career, and this deployment is a fantastic example of the skill, dedication and teamwork shown by dog handler PC Dan Garside and everyone in our dog unit.

"We understand that having your home targeted can be a deeply upsetting experience but hope that the swift actions of the officers involved today can provide some reassurance to the victim and the community.

“We hope this result sends a clear message that West Yorkshire Police is committed to pursuing those who commit offences.

“Every arrest we make has the potential to prevent further offences and protect more people from becoming victims of crime.”
