Police attended Clarence Dock on Tuesday evening after '100s' of people gathered - as a wedding party allegedly let off flares and fireworks on the street.

West Yorkshire Police said the force received a report of fireworks being let off in the street and the road being blocked.

Police attended and established this was related to a wedding party.

One Clarence Dock resident told the Yorkshire Evening Post a number of cars started to pull up and rev their engines on Chadwick Street at around 5.30pm.

The resident claimed hundreds of guests of a wedding party started 'having a massive party in the street' later in the evening.

She claimed they set off fireworks in the road - 'metres away from buildings deemed as highly flammable due to cladding'.

The party proceeded with drums and dancing in the street, the resident said.

Video footage provided to the YEP shows fireworks being let off as a number of people watched on the street.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "This relates to a report we received of fireworks being let off in the street and the road being blocked.

"We have attended and established this was related to a wedding party."

There is no suggestion the wedding party was shut down, police said.
