Thug broke man's eye socket with punch outside Leeds school

A known thug has been handed a new jail sentence after attacking his partner’s ex during the school run.

Randeep Singh is already serving a lengthy spell behind bars for violence, but appeared before Leeds Crown Court again this week where he admitted a new charge of GBH without intent.

The 38-year-old previously attacked a man with an angle grinder, then carried out an elbow assault on his partner.

For his latest offence, he and his partner had been waiting near to an unnamed school in Leeds on the afternoon of March 31, 2025, when the woman’s ex partner appeared and came to talk to them through the car window.

Singh then got out and walked around the car and punched the man to the face, telling him he would kill him.

Children leaving school witnessed the attack. The victim went to hospital the next day where it was found he had a fractured cheekbone and eye socket.

He required surgery to insert a metal plate.

A victim impact statement suggested his face was still numb and his vision still affected.

Singh, formerly of Cambrian Street, Beeston, was arrested but refused to answer police questions.

He appeared in court this week over a link from HMP Humber where he is already serving a total of 78 months.

Mitigating, Tonicha Allen said Singh was “very much aware” that he faced even more time in prison.

She said he fully accepted his involvement, although said the victim had “created a difficult atmosphere” for him and his partner.

Singh was permitted to read out a letter he had written in which he said: “I can’t stress how remorseful I am. I have no excuse.”

He said he was drinking too much and described himself as being in “self-destruct mode”.

Judge Neil Clark told him: “It was a cowardly attack and to make matters worse it was done in front of schoolchildren.”

He gave him an additional eight months’ jail to run consecutively to his existing sentence.
