Three people from Leeds arrested after police officer hit by car as it fled

Three people from Leeds have been arrested after a police officer was hit by a car.

Officers spotted a suspicious vehicle in Bewerley Road, Harrogate, at 3.20pm on Wednesday.

The green Vauxhall Insignia had three people inside.

As police approached the car, it hit an officer causing him to fall over. He was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury.

The car fled from police but was tracked down a short time later.

Three people aged 24, 30 and 35, all from Leeds, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

They all remain in custody.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
