Police warning as burglar forces entry into elderly woman's house in Kippax

Police are warning residents to be vigilant over the Christmas period after a burglary in Leeds.

An elderly woman's home in Kippax was broken into on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers from Garforth were called to the home and found the suspect nearby.

He was arrested and is now in custody at Elland Road Police Station.

Officers from Leeds East neighborhood policing team warned residents to be more vigilant following the break in.

A spokesperson said: "This is the time of year when we all need to be more vigilant.

"Please make sure you lock your doors and keep valuables out of sight as you just never know who is walking past.
