Facebook pervert from Leeds told girl, 13, to 'bring sweets and condoms' for Airbnb stay

He stopped communicating after realising photos were fake

A pervert who singled out a 13-year-old girl on Facebook, sent her vile messages and wanted to spend a night with her has been locked up.

Harry Barker thought he was talking to a youngster, but it was a profile run by an undercover officer designed to snare paedophiles.

The 34-year-old lied about his age and spent a month sending sickening comments, telling her he wanted to take her to a Airbnb for the night.

He only relented when he realised some of the images the officer sent back were fake, Leeds Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor Sam Roxborough said Barker latched onto the profile in January 2025 through Facebook Messenger.

He told her he was 16, immediately made crude sexual suggestions and wanted pictures of her.

He called her “perfect” and told her: “You have got to be mine.”

In February he suggested they get the Airbnb and told her to bring condoms, lingerie, sweets and crisps.

After he became suspicious, the police went to his home to arrest him and seize his digital devices.

Barker, of King George Avenue, Chapel Allerton, later admitted attempted sexual communications with a child, attempting to incite a child into penetrative sexual activity and attempting to incite a child into non-penetrative sexual activity.

Mitigating, Sean Smith said he has no previous convictions, and was in employment.

He suggested he could be given a suspended sentence so Barker could receive help.

He said no indecent images were found on his devices, which was unusual in such cases.

But Judge Anesh Pema told Barker that he was “gearing up” to meet the supposed child.

He jailed him for 40 months. He was also put on the sex offender register for life and given a lifelong sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) to curb his internet use.
