Paedophile serving lengthy sentence returned to Leeds court after admitting assault on boy under 10

A paedophile serving a lengthy sentence has been returned to court after he confessed online that he targeted a further victim.

Daniel Cromack is already behind bars having been handed an 11-year extended sentence in 2025 for trying to meet a child.

Cromack appeared at Leeds Crown Court this week over a video link from HMP Moorland and admitted sexual assault of a boy, who was under 10, dating back more than two decades.

The 34-year-old had made the confession online, prosecutor Maya Hanson told the court.

The incident had happened between 2004 and 2006, in which Cromack had pulled the boy’s trousers down twice but was interrupted by an adult.

A victim impact statement from the boy’s mother suggested the incident had “torn their family apart”.

Cromack, formerly of William Street, Wakefield, was only arrested in March of last year for the matter, but gave a no-comment interview.

Mitigating, Samreen Akhtar said he had expressed remorse for his actions, recognised the impact and “wishes to apologise”.

She said that he was using his time in prison wisely, and had dreams of becoming a YouTuber and blogger about his interest in theme parks.

He has four previous convictions for 26 offences, five of which are for sexual offences.

He was given the extended sentence, made up of six years’ jail and a five-year extended licence period in June of last year.

Cromack had even bought items from Ann Summers and had arranged for the girl to travel to West Yorkshire.

But he had previously appeared in court for child sex offences in 2015 and 2018. He is already on the sex offender register for life, and subject to a life-long sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).

Judge Ray Singh told Cromack that he was fortunate not to have been charged with attempted rape for the incident with the boy.

He gave Cromack a 12-month sentence, which will run consecutively to his existing sentence.
