Three masked men attempted to break into a cash machine in Wetherby using tools.

Police were called to the Barclays branch in Market Place shortly before 2am.

Officers found the cash machine had been "significantly damaged", but it is not believed that any cash was stolen.

The three men escaped in a dark coloured car.

Police are still at the scene while forensics officers examine the area.

Detective Inspector James Entwistle, of Leeds District CID, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident and would like to hear from anyone who saw the men involved or the vehicle they were using.”
