Man sprayed with unknown substance in A61 attack prompting huge emergency service response

A man was sprayed with an unknown substance during an attack in Leeds which prompted a huge emergency service response.

It happened at about 2.20pm on Tuesday, June 8 on the A61 in Cross Green.

West Yorkshire Police officers found a man who had been attacked.

He had been sprayed in the leg with an unknown substance.

The man was taken to hospital.

The injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A lane was closed as the police, fire service and ambulance services attended.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Full West Yorkshire Police statement:

"At 2.22pm today, police were called to A61, Cross Green following reports of an assault.

"Officers attended and found a man had been assaulted. He had been sprayed in the leg with an unknown substance.

"The man was taken to hospital within juries not believed to be life threatening.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
