Man and woman arrested after serious assault in Kirkgate Leeds

West Yorkshire Police were called to Kirkgate at 11.21am yesterday (Sunday).

A 41-year-old man had been attacked, suffering wounds to his hands and head.

He was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A 42-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman have been arrested and a vehicle has been seized by police.

A police cordon was still in place, stretching round onto Harper Street, last night.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 11:21pm yesterday evening (25/10) to reports of a serious assault on Kirkgate in Leeds.

"A 41 year old man was located having sustained wounds to his hands and head.

"He was transported to hospital for treatment, however, his injuries are not believed life threatening.

"Both currently remain in custody and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

"Any witnesses or anyone with information should contact the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 884 of 25/10 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"Alternatively, you can use the live-chat system available from the Force’s website."
