Leeds Crown Court trial date set for murder accused over death of man struck by car in Headingley

A trial date has been fixed for a defendant accused of murder after a man was struck by a car in Headingley.

Mohammed Fike Butt, 31, will go on trial on March 15 next year accused of murdering Jason Llanwarne.

Mr Llanwarne died after being knocked down North Lane, Headingley, at around 10.30pm on Monday, September 14.

He was transferred to hospital with critical injuries and despite the best attempts to save his life, he passed away.

Butt, of Cross Flatts Avenue, Beeston, also pleads not guilty to two charges of attempted murder, one charge of dangerous driving and one count of driving while disqualified

He is accused of attempting to murder Dean Ward and Scott Chalders, also on September 14.

He denies driving dangerously on North Lane on the same date.

Butt's trial is expected to last two weeks and will he heard before a High Court Judge.

Butt appeared before the court via a video link from HMP Leeds for the brief hearing to fix the trial date.

He was returned to custody after the hearing.
