Investigation launched after youths kill six chickens at Middleton Park Primary School

An investigation has been launched after youths reportedly killed six chickens after breaking into a Leeds primary school.

The incidents took place over the course of two days at Middleton Park Primary School, in Middleton Park Avenue.

Two youths were seen on CCTV entering the school site at about 4.20pm on Sunday, March 28.

A coop in the school grounds was broken into and four chickens killed.

Three youths were then caught on CCTV entering the school at about 8.20pm on Monday, March 29.

Two chickens were killed on that day.

Police have described the killings as "cruel and unnecessary".

Inspector Lucy Leadbeater, who heads the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a cruel and unnecessary act and we fully appreciate the understandable distress it will have caused to the school and in the wider community.

“We are carrying out enquiries to identify those responsible and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything at the time of the incidents or who has any other information that could assist the investigation.”
