Enraged Leeds boyfriend tore out partner's hair in appalling home attack
Thug headbutted her twice and punched her
A thug with a “terrible record for violence” ripped a clump of hair from his partner’s head in an attack in which he also punched and headbutted her.
The judge at Leeds Crown Court said the vicious assault and Jack Metcalfe’s past meant it was too serious for anything other than a custodial sentence.
The 32-year-old had admitted charges of ABH and assault.

The couple had been in a relationship since August 2023 but it began to fall apart in January last year when he became physically and mentally abusive, prosecutor Victoria Ball said.
Metcalfe would also accuse her of cheating on him.
They had been at home in the Swinnow area of Leeds on September 4 last year when he lunged at her and grabbed her by the arm.
He then grabbed hold of her hair and dragged her around, ripping out a clump from her scalp.
Metcalfe was shouting: “What do you take me for?”
He then headbutted her twice and walked away, but two minutes later he returned, called her names and punched her three times, twice to the head and once to the ribs.
Metcalfe then attacked the woman again on January 5 after he became angry. He pinned her against the wall and left her with a cut lip.
She ended the relationship after that incident.
In a victim impact statement, read to the court she said she had been left an “empty shell” and felt “very isolated” due to Metcalfe’s abuse.
She added: “I do not sleep most nights because of the flashbacks.”
Metcalfe has 23 previous convictions for 38 offences, including violence.
Mitigating, Olivia Fraser said these latest offences were his first since 2017.
She said he was keen to start work in construction or warehousing and he was undergoing testing for possible borderline personality disorder.
Metcalfe had been living on Dean Crescent in Wigan, Lancashire, since his arrest.
Judge Neil Clark jailed him for 28 months and told him: “You have a terrible record of violence.”
Metcalfe was also given a 10-year restraining order to stay away from the woman.
