Drunk driver 'lucky' to be found after ploughing through bushes and flipping car

A driver was 'lucky' to be found by a member of the public - after ploughing their car through bushes while drunk.

The driver was discovered inside the car - which had flipped onto its side in the crash - by a member of the public who spotted the lights of the vehicle.

When the car was discovered in the field in Hemsworth, Pontefract, the driver remained trapped inside.

The driver later blew 155 on a roadside breath test - more than four times the drink drive limit, police said.

In a tweet, West Yorkshire Roads Policing Unit said: "Hemsworth - The driver of this vehicle was lucky a member of the public saw its lights through bushes and went to investigate in a field.

"It had landed on its side, with the driver trapped.

"The driver blew 155 roadside, over 4x the drink drive limit!"
