Drug dealer caught selling psychedelic substance in Leeds
He had “crippling” addiction, court told
A dealer caught with high-purity cocaine and a psychedelic substance while driving through Leeds.
Rakesh Mahi had his own “crippling” addiction, Leeds Crown Court was told.
The 30-year-old admitted two counts of dealing in Class A drugs.
Officers noticed a Skoda driving at speed in Bramley on July 10 last year, so stopped the car on Greenthorpe Walk.

Driver Mahi had 17 bags of cocaine on him that was 97 per cent pure and worth £510.
He also had £210 in cash on him and an iPhone containing clear messages related to dealing.
During a search of his address they found more than £300 worth of psilocin - the active psychedelic ingredient found in magic mushrooms - along with more cocaine. Fingerprints found on the drugs matched him.
Mahi, of Greenthorpe Hill, Armley, later gave a no-comment interview to police. He appeared in court from HMP Leeds where he was being held on remand.
The court heard he has a previous conviction for robbery dating back to 2015.
Mitigating, Lily Wildman said Mahi was “capable of living a law-abiding life” but said his life was blighted by his own cocaine use at the time.
She said he had fallen into debt and was forced into selling drugs.
Judge Penelope Belcher jailed him for three years.
