The 29-year-old is also charged with child cruelty, but no pleas were entered during the brief hearing.

A preliminary trial date was set for February 22 and should it go ahead, could take up to four weeks.

Worsfold, of Farrow Road, Armley, will appear again in court again on September 7 where he will be expected to enter pleas.

He was remanded back into custody.

Worsfold is charged with killing his one-month-old boy in July 2020.

The tot was admitted to hospital on July 4, 2020 from an address in Lincombe Drive, Gledhow, and died six days later.

A 25-year-old woman, who was arrested as part of the investigation by detectives from West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, has now been released with no further action.
