'Cowardly' Leeds thug jailed for pinning down partner and knocking out her teeth

Judge described it as a “brutal” assault

A drunken thug who pinned his partner down and beat her so badly he knocked out her teeth has been jailed.

Kyle Foster admitted the attack from earlier this year, and another from last year. He appeared at Leeds Crown Court this week.

Prosecutor Zanisha Herbert said the couple had been in a relationship for four years.

On January 24 they had been arguing at home in the Middleton area which continued later on into the night. He threatened to hit her and pushed her into a door.

She fell and struck her head on the ground.

After going to bed, he pushed her onto the floor, then sat astride her and punched her to the face repeatedly.

The court heard she may have lost consciousness before the woman’s sister intervened.

The victim was left spitting blood and felt her eye beginning to swell.

She was left with missing teeth while others were damaged. The police were called and Foster was arrested.

The 31-year-old admitted during interview to attacking the woman.

The woman later said that he had attacked her in June last year, slapping her repeatedly and damaging her phone.

Foster, now of Westway, Mirfield, admitted ABH, assault and criminal damage. He has no previous convictions.

In a victim statement, the woman said she had lost a lot of weight following the attack.

Mitigating for Foster, Matthew Stewart said he accepted full responsibility and expressed remorse.

He said Foster had suffered severe trauma as a child and had struggles with alcohol.

Foster worked as an auto electrician and was in full-time employment.

Judge Geoffrey Marson KC told Foster: “You were full of alcohol and you attacked her in a persistent and brutal manner.

“It was a cowardly attack.”

He jailed him for 16 months and gave him a five-year restraining order to keep him away from his ex partner.
