Convicted Leeds paedophile downloaded sickening child-sex video games
Software allowed police to detect his internet use
A paedophile tried to fuel his sickening interests by downloading video games involving animated children.
Richard Page, who has been caught with abuse images before, was found to have downloaded four artificial intelligence (AI) games from the internet that contained a sexual element.
However, the 44-year-old avoided a custodial sentence at Leeds Crown Court.
Page had been convicted at York Crown Court in 2023 of possessing indecent images of children and sexual assault.
He was given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) meaning his internet use could be monitored.
An app was installed by police to flag up any prohibited behaviour, which later alerted officers that he was viewing new images.
A public protection officer arrested him on November 2 last year and his internet devices analysed.
They found 17 prohibited AI-generated images and the games he had downloaded, prosecutor Louise Pryke told the court.
Appearing in court from custody, Page, of Haighside Way, Rothwell, admitted breaching his SHPO and possession of prohibited images.
Mitigating, Philip Mahoney said Page had been held in prison since the start of June and entered early guilty pleas.
The judge, Recorder Simon Jackson KC said Page has a “persistent and worrying interest in children”, despite his denials.
Page was handed a two-year community order, with 200 hours of unpaid work to complete and 25 rehabilitation days with probation.
