Conceited Leeds paedophile told girl that meeting him was 'lifetime opportunity'
He pretended to be a 15-year-old over the internet
A pervert latched onto what he thought was a young girl, arrogantly telling her that meeting him would be a “lifetime opportunity”.
But the profile Mathieu Wilkinson targeted had been set up by an undercover police officer.
The 23-year-old escaped with a suspended sentence at Leeds Crown Court this week.
Wilkinson messaged the profile of the supposed 14-year-old girl in November 2024 over the site, Chat Avenue.
He told her he was just 15, making crude comments and inquired about setting up a meeting. They moved the conversation to Snapchat.

Wilkinson made the comments about it being an “opportunity”, and sent multiple pornographic videos.
He was arrested on March 19, 2025 and gave a no-comment interview.
He later admitted attempting to cause a child to engage in sexual activity and attempting to cause a child to watch sexual activity.
Wilkinson, of Swinnow Close, Swinnow, has no previous convictions.
No mitigation was offered after Judge Kate Rayfield said she would not lock him up, saying she was “persuaded” he could be rehabilitated.
He was given a 28-month sentence, suspended for 18 months. She ordered he complete 20 rehabilitation days with probation and 150 hours of unpaid work.
Wilkinson was put on the sex offender register for 10 years and given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) to curb his internet use.
