Sarah Nolan described how Georgia Myers died after being the victim of "sick mind games and false promises" when she started a secret relationship with a man twice her age.

Michael Jenkins was jailed for five and a half years yesterday (December 18) after Leeds Crown Court heard how he began sexually abusing Georgia from the age of 14.

Georgia took her own life on August 4, 2018, after Jenkins ended the relationship while he was under investigation by the police for sex offences committed against her.

Ms Nolan, from Thorpe, provided a victim statement describing her hatred for the man she blames for the tragedy.

The statement was read to the court by prosecutor Richard Walters as Jenkins was sentenced for three offences of sexual activity with a child.Ms Nolan said: "Georgia is counting on me to get her justice, writing this is destroying me but I have to do this for Georgia. She deserves justice.

"Michael has destroyed mine and my kids' world forever.

"He's taken my beautiful, gorgeous, smart girl away from us and her whole future away from her too.

"All because his sick games and happily-ever-after false promises he shouldn't have ever even given her or thought about because she's a child.

"His perverted mind and sick ego was clearly more precious to him than my kid's feelings and life and clearly still is.

"He doesn't feel bad at all. He's no shame, he's cold, heartless and sick and all for his foul ego.

"I despise Michael so much. My daughter hurt and died for nothing and that's what you are Michael - nothing.

"You were not worth her tears, heartbreak and not ever worth her taking her life for."

Ms Nolan told the court how, shortly before her death, Georgia was distraught to discover Jenkins was having a child with another woman.

Jenkins made promises to end that relationship to be with Georgia but then told the teenager he could not see her any more.

Ms Nolan said she found a note which had been left on her bed by her daughter the day before her death.

The note read: "Mum, There are some things I can't tell you for reasons I can't say but I just wanna say I adore you I really do, you're the best mum and I'm blessed to have you as my mum I truly am and I love you so much,

"I know I've done some bad things but I'm learning slowly but surely.

"I know what I want in my future and I have to fight for what I want and I'm trying so hard and pushing myself to get where I need to be but I've made a decision and I'm hoping you won't leave me or hate me for it.

"I'm hoping you'll be happy that I'm happy and I'm going to receive a lot of hate but I'm willing to go through that.

"I'm sure that what I'm doing is the right thing because I know I'm meant to do it. I hope you support me through this.

"My mind and heart is set on it. So please don't be mad once it's happened. I love you always, Georgia, Mwah x"

Ms Nolan said: "I shouted Georgia in to my room and asked her if it was about Michael and she smiled from ear to ear and said 'yes'.

"I could see how excited and hopeful she was, you would have thought she had just won the lottery because of how much he had bigged her up.

"It was clear that she was genuinely believing what he was saying to her as he had brought her up so much and given her so much hope.

"The next morning he brought her back down again. He played with her emotions.

"This is the last ever handwritten letter I got from my daughter as she was dead the next day."

The mum also spoke of her anger at seeing Jenkins plead not guilty to the sex offences against Georgia at an earlier court hearing.

The father-of-two eventually pleaded guilty shortly before he was due to go on trial.

Ms Nolan said: "Michael only cares and thinks about what is best for him and I think he pleaded not guilty because he wanted to go home that day and only thought about what suited him.

"But I was disappointed because a small part of me hoped, really hoped, he'd at least felt a little bit bad for Georgia and that he'd at least feel a bit of remorse for Georgia, especially after she died, which proved how cold and selfish he really is.

"He isn't at all sorry for what he put Georgia through or that it led to her death.

"He proved how little he thought of Georgia which is nothing and all."

Ending her statement, Ms Nolan said: "I have written your name and I have written that I hate you and I have said it's all your fault because it's a fact.

"Just like it's a fact I have to exist in a world without my daughter and I also have to try to take the pain her brothers and sisters are left with her because they are broken without their big sister.

"We don't get to make new memories with her and it's all your fault.

"In my eyes you took her life but you took part of ours away too which will never be forgotten or forgiven.

"The person to blame who has taken a piece from all of these lives is Michael Jenkins."
