Becky Freeman, Deputy Headteacher at the school, said the school purchased the two minibuses - adorned with their logo - three years ago brand new.

However, the children have been left 'very upset' today following the theft not only because of the loss of the minibuses, but 'that someone has broken into their school grounds and taken something that didn't belong to them.'

Becky, speaking to the YEP, said: "We have had the minibuses for 3 years, and were brand new when purchased.

"When school is operating under normal circumstances they are used on a daily basis to allow the children to be able to attend sporting events and trips to enhance the curriculum.

"Without the minibuses we simply will not be able to attend these events, or will have to ask parents for money to hire transport, which in the current climate is not something we will be able to do."

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police are investigating this incident which is believed to have happened at around 6.40pm yesterday (Wednesday).

"Anyone with information that may assist is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference 13210096454.

"Information can also be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers."
