Car flips on its side as public help get people out after car crashes into lamppost on Shadwell Lane

Members of the public helped to get people out of a car as it flipped on its side after crashing into a lamppost in North Leeds.

Police received reports at 6.40pm this evening (Saturday) that a car was on its side after crashing into a lamppost on the junction of Shadwell Lane and the A6120 Ring Road.

Members of the public assisted in getting the two people who were trapped in the car out and police confirmed that when they arrived, nobody was left in the vehicle.

There is currently no suggestion of any serious injuries.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "We received reports at 6.40pm that a car was on its side after colliding with a lamppost at the junction of Shadwell Lane and the Ring Road.

"Members of the public had been assisting with getting the people out of the vehicle and were able to do so with ease.

"On police arrival, it was confirmed that nobody was left trapped and a front seat driver and passenger were out of the car safely.

"There is currently no suggestion of any serious injuries."
