But spare a thought for their devoted mum - German Shepherd Amor - who is still looking for that special someone after seeing all her puppies safely into new homes.

She arrived at the York Road centre in Leeds with her puppies underweight aged six-weeks-old.

After being hand-fed and finding their own new owners, their mum is hoping to get lucky on Valentine's Day this year and find love with a family of her own.

Amanda Sands, Dogs Trust Leeds rehoming centre manager, told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "It is always shocking when strays come to us but when such young puppies are abandoned on the streets it’s even more heart breaking. I have worked here for 30 years and I still find it hard to believe.

“We don’t know how long they had been out on their own for but the mum wasn’t able to look after them so we hand fed them and gave them, and Amor, all the TLC they needed. We of course all fell head over heels in love with them and happily the pups recovered quickly from their tough start in life and are all now in their new homes.

“We’re just hoping Amor, who is really loving and affectionate, finds her special someone soon. If that was in time for Valentine’s Day that would be the perfect happy ending for her.”

Amor loves people, walks beautifully on the lead and could live with older children, but she needs to be the only pet in the home.
