The new LNER and Northern joint ticket covers up to two adults and four children, offering huge savings ahead of the summer holidays
Families planning a summer day out can now slash the cost of rail travel thanks to a newly launched joint ticket.
The 'Family Ticket' allows groups to travel between London and Edinburgh on LNER trains, as well as on Northern services to one of 60 different destinations across the North of England.
Valid for up to two adults and four children (aged 15 and under), the ticket saves families an average of 77 per cent on standard fares and includes reserved seating for the whole party on LNER services.

The two train operators teamed up to launch the initiative alongside the Department for Transport to make rail travel simpler and more convenient.
It comes as the Government continues its work to establish Great British Railways to deliver better services and value for taxpayers.
Alex Hornby, Commercial and Customer Director at Northern, said: “We’re excited to be launching this new ticket ahead of the summer holidays as it makes train travel more flexible and affordable for families.
“This is yet another example of joining up the railway for the benefit of our customers, and it opens up dozens of fantastic destinations in the North to families looking to enjoy a fun day out together.”
David Flesher, Commercial Director at LNER, added: “Following the launch of the East Coast Main Line’s transformational timetable, this is the first summer LNER and Northern customers can enjoy even more choice of services.
“The Family Ticket is the perfect finishing touch, making it easier than ever to take a seaside escape, a city break or a countryside adventure.”
The new ticket is on sale now, but must be booked at least three days in advance of travel.
On the Northern network, it is currently available on selected routes, including services through Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Sowerby Bridge, and Todmorden.
