As the Bank Holiday weekend gets underway, animal welfare staff at the RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield & District Branch are making a special appeal to local pet lovers.
The East Ardsley rescue centre is currently caring for 13 cats and kittens who are all looking for loving homes across West Yorkshire forever.
Whether you are looking for a playful kitten, a pair of bonded companions, or a relaxed older lap cat, the local rescue team has a wide range of felines waiting to meet their match.
All cats adopted through the branch come fully microchipped, vaccinated, flea- and worm-treated, neutered, and vet-checked prior to rehoming.
1. Puddles (Domestic Short Hair - 10 months approx)
Petite little girl Puddles is a sweet 10-month-old domestic short hair with a white and tabby coat and a very big heart. Sadly left behind when her previous owners moved away, she remains remarkably trusting, affectionate, and eager to act as a loving "shadow" to her humans. | RSPCA
2. Penelope (Domestic Short Hair – 2 years approx)
Sweet two-year-old Penelope is a black domestic short hair who came into RSPCA care after being found straying all on her own. Known for her adorable little meow, she loves hearing a friendly voice and will happily pop her head out to greet you before trotting over for fuss and company. | RSPCA
3. Peggy (Domestic Short Hair – 1 year 3 months approx)
One-year-old Peggy is a striking black-and-white domestic short hair who has shown incredible resilience after being rescued from a house with 46 other cats. Having already raised a litter of kittens despite her young age, she has truly started to flourish with space, care, and patience. Peggy knows her own mind and enjoys affection on her terms, making her a loyal companion. | RSPCA
4. Deirdre & Libby (Domestic Short Hair – 5 months approx)
Deirdre and Libby are an inseparable pair of black-and-white domestic short hairs who bonded in rescue after very different starts in life; Libby was saved from a house fire, while younger kitten Deirdre was found orphaned in a garden at just a few days old. Libby acts as the wiser older sister while whirlwind Deirdre spends her days playing fetch with her favourite toy. | RSPCA
5. Cooper & Otis (Domestic Short Hair – 1 year approx)
Cooper and Otis are a double act of sleek black one-year-old brothers looking for a forever home together. Cooper is the inquisitive shadow who loves inserting himself into whatever you are doing, while Otis is a gentler soul who prefers showing affection through quiet head bumps and stretched-out paws. The pair are inseparable, spending their days sleeping side by side, playing together, and watching the world go by. | RSPCA
6. Maddie & Phoebe (Domestic Short Hair – 5 months approx)
Five-month-old black kittens Maddie and Phoebe are inseparable best friends who came into RSPCA care after being rescued from a house fire. While slightly calmer than typical kittens, this adventurous duo loves exploring high perches to watch birds and squirrels, playing together, and curling up in a sweet "yin-yang" shape for naps. | RSPCA
