As the days get longer and we look toward a fresh start, local rescue centres are filled with feline residents searching for a second chance at happiness.
From playful kittens to distinguished seniors and ‘house panthers’ looking for a sofa to call their own, there is a companion for every type of household.
We looked across the West Yorkshire chapters of Cats Protection to highlight the moggies currently waiting for adopters across the Leeds, Harrogate, and Halifax regions.
Whether they have spent their lives as strays or have found themselves in care through no fault of their own, each of these 25 cats has a unique story and plenty of love to give.

13. Missy – Halifax, Huddersfield & Wakefield
Two-year-old Missy is a former stray who is longing to build a lasting bond with a new family. She is a huge fan of chin scratches and tuna treats, often rolling over in delight when people sit down to chat with her. Because she was found alone, she is looking for a relatively quiet home without young children or other pets where her true, relaxed personality can continue to blossom. | Cat Protection

14. Phoenix & Pinky – Halifax, Huddersfield & Wakefield
This striking pair are confident, affectionate, and best friends. They are thought to have some Oriental heritage, evidenced by their velvety black fur and elegant features, with Pinky sporting a pretty white patch on her tummy. They love to share a knee for joint cuddles and are inseparable playmates, so they are looking for a forever home where they can stay together and enjoy a garden. | Cats Protection

15. Redno – Halifax, Huddersfield & Wakefield
Redno is a people cat with a heart of gold and incredibly soft ears that he loves to have stroked. After undergoing successful surgery to correct a condition with his eyelashes, he is now happy, healthy, and ready to find a family that won't leave him alone for long periods. He is a chunky, gentle boy who enjoys head bumps, kitty kisses, and the occasional game of tag with a dressing gown belt. | Cats Protection

16. Rusty – Halifax, Huddersfield & Wakefield
Rusty, named for the beautiful copper tones in his coat, is a professional lap warmer and a total 'purr machine.' He is a very sociable boy who loves to press his head into your hand to make the most of every stroke. While he has lived with other cats before, he would be just as happy as an only pet, where he can keep all the cuddles for himself after his father and brother recently found homes together. | Cats Protection

17. Sabrina – Halifax, Huddersfield & Wakefield
Sabrina is a gentle lady who shows her love by placing her paws on your knee to ask for a cuddle. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, her lovely nature is well worth the wait once she learns your scent and voice. She is a playful girl who doesn't demand constant attention and would thrive as the only pet in a home where she can have access to a safe outdoor space | Cats Protection

18. Sonny – Halifax, Huddersfield & Wakefield
At 15 years young, Sonny is proving that age is just a number by chasing his laser light toy like a kitten! This beautiful, mature boy is a total gentleman who loves his daily grooming and finds great comfort in sitting with his humans for plenty of cuddles. After some gentle encouragement to stay active, he is now feeling nimble and ready to bring his calm, affectionate presence to a new loving home. | Cats Protection
