As the days get longer and we look toward a fresh start, local rescue centres are filled with feline residents searching for a second chance at happiness.
From playful kittens to distinguished seniors and ‘house panthers’ looking for a sofa to call their own, there is a companion for every type of household.
We looked across the West Yorkshire chapters of Cats Protection to highlight the moggies currently waiting for adopters across the Leeds, Harrogate, and Halifax regions.
Whether they have spent their lives as strays or have found themselves in care through no fault of their own, each of these 25 cats has a unique story and plenty of love to give.

7. Tilly – Leeds Cat Centre
Tilly is a sweet, petite lady who arrived in care with a few tangles, so she’ll need a dedicated owner who enjoys regular grooming. She would prefer to be the only pet in the house to ensure she gets all the attention, though she has successfully lived with children in the past. Once settled, she will appreciate having the option to explore the outdoors at her own pace | Cats Protection

8. Whisk – Leeds Cat Centre
Whisk has undergone a total transformation from a scared hider to a lap-loving cuddle bug after spending time in a dedicated foster home. She has hypothyroidism, which is easily managed with twice-daily medication and regular blood tests, and her 'drooly' smile only adds to her charm. She is a special girl who just wants a warm knee to snuggle up on for the rest of her days. | Cats Protection

9. Archie – Halifax, Huddersfield & Wakefield
Archie is a stunning two-year-old pure white cat who is currently on the lookout for a very specific type of forever home. Because he is FIV positive and has reduced hearing, Archie needs to be an indoor-only cat to keep him safe and healthy. A wonderfully sociable and 'chatty' boy who loves meal times and will happily settle on your lap for a long snooze once he’s finished his dinner | Cats Protection

10. Boy – Halifax, Huddersfield & Wakefield
Boy is a petite and incredibly affectionate soul who has come a long way since being found underweight and living outdoors. He is a true people cat who simply wants to be loved, often resting his head on his bed and purring contentedly while being stroked. He would be happiest in a home without other cats or very young children, where he can enjoy a safe garden. | Cats Protection

11. Tommy, Timmy & Tammy – Halifax, Huddersfield & Wakefield
This trio of kittens - Timmy (ginger and white), Tommy (tabby and white), and Tammy (black and white) - are a bundle of gentle, loving energy. They are very closely bonded and love nothing more than chasing their cat wand together or curling up for a group nap. Tommy is particularly unique as he is polydactyl, meaning he has extra toes! | Cats Protection

12. Liza – Halifax, Huddersfield & Wakefield
Liza is a trusting and affectionate girl with a beautiful monochrome coat who was sadly abandoned by her previous owner. She is the ultimate companion, often snuggling right into your arm and resting her head on your hand to show she considers you a friend. Having spent time living outside, she is looking for a home with a garden where she can explore. | Cats Protection
