Upon arrival, she needed lots of veterinary treatment, and has recently undergone investigations for a mammary mass.

Despite her X-rays showing no spread of cancer, she now requires mammary strip surgery later this month to remove the mass and prevent recurrence.

With the operation expected to cost around £2,000, the local RSPCA branch is now appealing to the community to help raise money to cover the surgery’s cost.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA Leeds and Wakefield branch said: “As a self-funded charity, costs like these are significant, and we rely entirely on public support to provide vital treatment for animals like Meg.

"We are therefore appealing for donations to help cover the cost of her surgery.”
