The restaurant and café bar on Call Lane was a stalwart favourite of the city's independent food and drink scene and a popular spot for lunch and weekend brunch.

Announcing the closure in December, Arts thanked diners for their support before the café closed its doors permanently on February 1.

A new venue is set to takeover the city centre spot and will be announced this spring.

Arts Cafe, on Call Lane, has closed down after 25 years of trading

In statement released online, Arts said: "After 25 incredible years, it's time to say a heartfelt goodbye to ours and Call Lane's long standing Arts Café - and turn the page to a new chapter.

"We'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has entered our doors and dined with us throughout the years - and to all the staff and chefs for their hard work throughout.

"This spring, the venue will be turned into a brand new, exciting concept, bringing more life to one of the city's most popular streets."
