Dogs Trust in Leeds has several dogs and puppies and these are the ones that currently need rehoming (all photos from Dogs Trust Leeds):
7. Jake
Jake is a very handsome six year old Lurcher. He is one of life's worriers though. He can be shy when he first meets you, but he's easily won over if you've got a few treats in your pocket! Once he knows you he is the softest lad you could meet. He just loves cuddling up with you and is so affectionate. He likes his walks and he also loves lounging on a sofa, a good walk somewhere quiet will keep him happy. He's manageable around other dogs but he doesn't like them in his personal space however he is happy to wear a muzzle out and about. Jake doesn't like being left on his own so he'll need his owners around all the time initially. He'll need to be the only pet in an adult only home where there will be no visiting children at all. He'll also need a good sized secure garden. Most importantly though, he needs owners who will share their sofa with him and who enjoy LOTS of cuddles! Jake will need multiple visits to get to know him before he is ready to fly the nest.
Jax has been at Dogs Trust a while after having surgery. Although he still has a wart or two, he is ready to find his forever home and he's hoping he'll be kicking back in his new garden by the time summer really arrives. He is friendly with everyone he meets, and considering he has been through a lot in his life so far, that really is testament to his cracking character. Jax is looking for a home with people aged 16 or over, although younger teen visitors would be okay once he's settled in. His move into a home will be stressful for him, which is why he can't go straight in to living with anyone younger. He loves dogs and would enjoy living with a settled role model. Jax could potentially live with cats. He does lack confidence at times so a home with access to quiet walks is important for this lad. Jax has a medical condition that will need ongoing treatment, therefore there will be additional medical costs. Since this photo was taken Jax has had surgery to remove the large lump on his mouth. Sadly he also
Lyle is a lovely lad who has a lot of potential in the right hands. He's three years old and although he's old enough to know better, he does still lack self-control! He's absolutely full of beans and always on the go so will need a lot of patience from his owners as he learns the ropes of home life. He'll need very dedicated people who have a good understanding of dog training and who are passionate about gradually bringing out Lyle's potential. He is extremely strong on lead so you must be able to confidently handle him out and about. He is a very intelligent dog and very willing to learn. His love of food really helps when doing training tasks with him. If you are looking for a smart boy who enjoys lots of interaction and will be a bit of an ongoing project, then Lyle is your boy!
Little Sally is looking for a special home in which she can retire and enjoy a quieter life. This senior lady just wants a nice garden for the occasional zoomie and she will make a fab little companion. She enjoys walks little and often. She may need a little help with housetraining initially but once settled, Sally is a lovely little house guest and copes being left on her own for short periods. Sally would prefer a quieter home environment with adults but should be fine with older, sensible visiting children. She needs to be the only pet but is polite around dogs out and about. Sally has problems with her skin which is being treated and she is on long term medication for her heart which potential owners need to be aware of. Sally is currently staying in a foster home.
Stuart is big strong lad who is looking for a very special home. He's only one and unfortunately hasn't had much training in his life. His training MUST be continued in his home. His owners will need plenty of previous experience of large breed dogs and be prepared to put in a lot of effort at the start with things like lead training, confidence building and gradual dog socialisation as he does tend to bark when he sees them. He is full of potential so your hard work will be rewarded with a fun, playful and loyal companion. He loves his food so he really is a trainers dream! He is housetrained but he will only toilet on grass, so his home MUST have a fully secure garden with high fence and lawn. Due to his size and training needs he must live in an adult only environment as the only dog with no visitors during his settling in period, and very few after then as he is nervous around new people. He cannot be left at all at the moment.
Ted enjoys the quiet life which is a good job as he is very hard of hearing. He is an older gent at 14 years old and just wants a nice garden to potter in and sit and enjoy the sunshine. Ted keeps himself to himself and but does enjoy a bit of gentle fussing or a good brush. He has lived outside for most of his life so may need some help in the house training department. His new owners should expect him to mark in the house at least initially. Ted is not one for miles of exercise but could manage a 15 minute walk a day so would suit a less active household. He is not a fan of dogs getting too close to him but doesn't look for trouble and as long as he is given some space he should be easy enough to manage. Ted has had problems with his ears which are being treated. They are looking much better but could cause him problems again. His new owners need to be aware of this. Ted is not bothered about spending time on his own for a few hours so would suit part time workers. If you have a quiet adult only home with a
