Dogs Trust in Leeds has several dogs and puppies and these are the ones that currently need rehoming (all photos from Dogs Trust Leeds):
7. Rumba
Rumba is an ex-racing greyhound who at five-years-old has hung up his racing shoes and is looking for his next adventure. He has turned his paws to training and learning new tracks and is quite the training whizz. Rumba loves his food and is eager to please if there is a tasty reward coming his way. He does have a strong chase instinct but happily wears his muzzle when out and about. He's a real joy to walk and is friendly with similar looking dogs to himself, especially other sighthounds. Rumba isn't a cuddler and prefers more active interactions like training or play time, but he does show a more affectionate side sometimes. He needs a home with people who have the same passion for training as he does. Although there was an incident in a previous home when he was lying on a sofa, the Dogs Trust training team has worked hard to develop a number of verbal and visual cues which Rumba responds brilliantly to, to avoid him being in a similar situation again.
Stuart is big strong lad who is looking for a very special home. He's only one and unfortunately hasn't had much training in his life. His training MUST be continued in his home. His owners will need plenty of previous experience of large breed dogs and be prepared to put in a lot of effort at the start with things like lead training, confidence building and gradual dog socialisation as he does tend to bark when he sees them. He is full of potential so your hard work will be rewarded with a fun, playful and loyal companion. He loves his food so he really is a trainers dream! He is housetrained but he will only toilet on grass, so his home MUST have a fully secure garden with high fence and lawn. Due to his size and training needs he must live in an adult only environment as the only dog with no visitors during his settling in period, and very few after then as he is nervous around new people. He cannot be left at all at the moment.
Wilbur is a wonderful boy with loads of potential. He is two years old and still has a lot to learn, but he's getting there. Unfortunately, he is a real worrier and doesn't like sudden noises or busy environments. He has a tendency to chase traffic and other small animals so he'll need to live in quite a rural area where he has immediate access to peaceful walks directly from his home. He prefers his own company and is not one for much fuss. He really enjoys playing with his toys and he's slowly learning how to include people in his games. Tug seems to be his current favourite! Wilbur needs a home with understanding, patient owners who are willing to continue his training. He needs an adult only environment with people who will give him the space he needs and love him just as he is. He will initially need you around all the time to settle him in. He is not keen on other dogs and has a strong natural chase instinct so cannot share his home with any other pets. He'll need a secure garden with 6ft fence.
Wilma is a very sweet dog although going into kennels has left her a little sad. She really needs some TLC and to find her special someone that will make her tail wag again. Wilma is a lot happier out of her kennel. She loves her walks (but can be strong at times) and is happy around new people. Families with children 16 and over should be fine. She would love an enclosed garden for letting off steam and crazy zoomies with her favourite squeaky toy. Wilma lacks confidence around dogs and prefers not to be around them so will need to be an only pet. Quieter walking areas would be an advantage although Wilma is happy in the car for a drive out to a more peaceful location. She should be fine for a few hours on her own once settled into her new home. Wilma likes to be up on the sofa for a cuddle and is used to sleeping on her owners bed at times. She is initially a shy dog but her true colours will shine through once you get to know her, she just needs a second chance.
