Dogs Trust: 10 of the dogs looking for their forever homes in Leeds this month

It has been a busy month at our local Dogs Trust in Leeds.

The York Road based dog rehoming centre continues to receive record numbers of requests from members of the public needing to hand over their beloved pets due to the cost-of-living crisis, as well as working closely with local dog wardens to help rehome an increasing number of stray and abandoned dogs in the area.

Here we get to go behind the scenes, meet some of the wonderful pooches who are looking for their forever homes and celebrate the many successful adoptions throughout June.

Stitch is a two-year-old German Shepherd who has been making great progress with her training and is now ready to find her new home. She would need to be the only pet in an adult only home so she has fewer distractions. A secure garden will be needed so she has somewhere to play off-lead and practice her housetraining. She would not be able to be left alone initially, so would need someone around all the time.

Stitch is a two-year-old German Shepherd who has been making great progress with her training and is now ready to find her new home. Skylar, a one-year-old German Shepherd, is a fun, playful and affectionate pup who would be a brilliant addition to a new home. She would need to be with human friends all the time, so it would be a while before she could be slowly introduced to any alone time, but the training team are happy to guide prospective owners through this.

Three-year-old Cockerpoo Rhubarb enjoys her training and would need to continue this in her new home. She is already housetrained, but may need a little refresh as she settles in. She will need her home to be within a 45-minute drive of the Leeds rehoming centre as her adopters will need to visit her at the centre regularly to build a relationship.
