Dogs Trust in Leeds has several dogs and puppies and these are the ones currently up for adoption this Christmas:
7. 7. Edward
Edward is a typical Staffordshire Bull Terrior who is bouncy and loving life. He would not be suitable for families with young children as he can be very over the top but over 16s should be fine. Edward is pretty much the same with dogs and will be happier being the only dog in the home. Edward can be vocal around dogs so would be better walked in quieter areas however he is eager to learn and eager to please. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
8. 8. Jake
Jake is a six-year-old Lurcher. He is one of life's worriers though. He can be shy when he first meets you, but he's easily won over if you've got a few treats in your pocket! Once he knows you he is the softest lad you could meet. He just loves cuddling up with you and is so affectionate. He likes his walks and he also loves lounging on a sofa, a good walk somewhere quiet will keep him happy. He's manageable around other dogs but he doesn't like them in his personal space however he is happy to wear a muzzle out and about. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
9. 9. Jessie
Jessie is a medium-sized, fawn and white Staffordshire Cross. Don't be fooled by her eight years, because this girl still thinks she is two years old and has an infectious love for life! Jessie loves playing with her toys and taking a dip in the paddling pool on hot days, she is food motivated (which is great for training!) and she is really friendly with her handlers. Jessie is manageable around other other dogs, but you can see in her body language that she would rather avoid them so she would need to be the only dog in the house. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
10. 10. Missy
Missy is very petite for her Dogue De Bordeaux breed. She is a lovely friendly girl out of her kennel and loves nothing more than a good fuss. Missy will need a quiet home without too many comings and goings and ideally not much passing the windows either. She should be fine with children 16 and over and will need to be the only pet as she is manageable but not entirely comfortable around other dogs. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
11. 11. Tasha
Tasha is a big fluffy bundle of love! She loves being around people and is immediately friendly with everyone she meets. She'll always hang around until you give a little bum scratch! Unfortunately, she isn't so keen on other dogs so will need to be walked in quieter areas where they won't come up close to her. Her muzzle training is coming along well though and she walks beautifully on lead. She may be 9 years old but she's still a very playful girl and loves her toys. Unlike many Akita's she really likes you to play with her and give her as much fuss as possible. So if you're looking for a guaranteed snuggle buddy then Tasha is your girl! Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
12. 12. Troy
Our lovely Troy is a nine year old Rottweiler that is hoping to have found his retirement home by Christmas. He has been friendly with everyone he has met here at the centre... everyone except the vet, who he was a bit worried about. Troy has got severe arthritis in his elbows, so it is unsurprising that he is uncomfortable being examined - but new owners will need to be aware of this for future vet visits. Troy is manageable around dogs but it is clear in his body language that he'd rather avoid them so he will need to be the only dog in the home. He does sometimes bark at passing dogs. Troy is a real delight to hang out with, and he can often be found relaxing in an office or behind reception, soaking up the attention. He loves his toys and likes to carry a ball around with him.
