7. The Tetley was a brewery
The Tetley may now be a creative space but to many it will always be the iconic, dark satanic mill of Tetleys Brewery, where your dads pints were born.
8. The music was awesome
The NME first coined the term New Yorkshire in 2005 to describe the enormous wave of indie groups coming out of Gods county at the time. It shifted the city's focus from house music.
9. Going into the city centre shopping was an all day affair
With no Trinity Leeds in sight, a day at the shops meant a five-mile hike trudging around.
10. Ace clothes was ace
Anyone who grew up in 2000s Leeds owned (or still owns) a garment or two from Ace. It was an independent clothes shop with all manner of styles.
11. Champions League glory was in sight
The early 2000s saw David OLeary and his young squad take on the Premier League and beyond, even managing a semi-final place in the Champions League.
12. Jongleurs was brilliant
For years Leeds Jongleurs was a staple for work nights out and Christmas dos, and saw acts such as Julian Clary, Alan Carr and Peter Kay tread the boards.
