They chart a decade in the life of the suburb and its residents during the 1930s. They feature landmarks, familiar streets, shops and talking points as well as historical detail. The images are published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks. The Imperial Picture House on Kirkstall Road in August 1937. It opened on September 1, 1913 and seated 700 people. In this view the film showing was Anna Neagle in 'The three Maxims' It was closed on May 22, 1940, the last film shown was 'The Girl From Mexico' starring Lupe Valez.
