7. Castle Howard
It was 'eyes down, check for a full house...' at Castle Howard in October 1962 as guests at an bingo, twist and bridge evening settled down with their number boards in the Long Gallery. Lights from the chandeliers glistened on the jewellery, and paintings in gilt frames hung above the heads of the players.
