A champagne celebration ended the first "solo" flight of a blind lawyer who used to be afraid of heights when he made a glider landing in July 1981 After weeks of training Wan Yeo landed at Pocklington Airfield. The flight, organised by the Wolds Gliding Club was to raise money for the Seacroft Friends of the Blind Association. He described the half hour flight as "magical" when he raised glasses with his instructor Bob Fox (right). "Before I lost my sight I was always terrified of heights but this was a tremendous experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it," he said.
